Call for checkpoint volunteers

We will need several people to offically log paddlers at checkpoints.
If you have a cell phone that has a web browser and would like to help

The course is 10.6 miles long and takes about 2 hours. There are 4 short portages. The first is at the Amwell Road bridge with take out on the right, cross the bridge and put in on the left of the canal. All the other portages are around the locks. These are on the tow path, which is graveled, and are about 100 yards long each.

The race will begin at 10:00 at canal house located at 598 Canal Rd, Somerset, NJ 08873-7319 on Blackwells Mills Road and finish at the historic Van Wickle house 1289 Eastern Avenue in Somerset,NJ 08873 ( just off interstate route 287 south of Rutgers prep school).

Classes will be finalized the Friday the week before the race (I need to order the awards), check here. There must be at least 5 entries to establish a class. Entries not naturally occurring in an established class will be assigned to classes based on the whim of the race director.
